The Clean up Continues

Gov. Ron DeSantis and state and local officials continue to keep Floridians up to speed over the ongoing efforts to restore normalcy after Hurricane Ian made landfall about a week ago.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has sent more than 130 trucks to construct a temporary bridge to Pine Island by the end of the week.

In addition, Governor DeSantis has directed FDOT to begin working on a plan for a temporary bridge to Sanibel Island. The island is currently cut off from the mainland.

As far as water goes, the Army Corps of Engineers is on the ground to access the water infrastructure in the region, and DeSantis called in the Division of Emergency Management personnel to help in those efforts.

Power companies are working together to restore power and have a completion timeline of October 8.

The death toll from the storm stands at 90.

But while DeSantis and state and local officials continue pressing rescue efforts, several media outlets have reported that rescue operations were halted wherever the Governor was on the ground.

This is not true.

This false narrative has been debunked and DeSantis himself has confirmed that operations have never been compromised or halted due to his presence. READ MORE
