Out-of-Control Spending in D.C.

You’ve heard of the idiom “Raising the Roof,” right? While the term is used to describe the engagement of “unrestrained” or “boisterous behavior,” in the U.S. Congress, the roof in question is the national debt ceiling.

Americans just about all agreed that government spending has been out of control for decades, regardless of which political party held the congressional purse strings..

Republicans have spent sunk the nation into staggering debt, but not as much as Democrats.

As the Republican-controlled House of Representatives takes shape, Democrats are railing against their political counterparts for wanting to cut government spending and not raise the debt limit or ceiling.

Some House Democrats even believe that Republicans want to take the economy “hostage” by threatening to slash Medicare and Social Security benefits. READ MORE

Trying to Stay Relevant

Former State Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith (D) appears to be desperately trying to stay relevant in today’s political discourse.

After a “shocking, shocking I tell. You” loss to now-Rep. Susan Plasencia (R) in the 2022 midterm elections, Smith has been trying to be a “one man” wrecking crew against the DeSantis administration.

Smith, who has not let off his political and ideological gas peddle, has been ripping Team DeSantis on just about every social issue imaginable, including all things gay.

Who knew?

Is anyone even listening to he/him?

Going Under the Knife With Smile

As someone who went under anesthesia less than two weeks ago, there is a big difference between having an actual anesthesiologist put you under and a nurse anesthetist (CRNA) doing the job.

The anesthetist works directly with the anesthesiologist and is usually the one who induces nap time in the operating room, but it's the manner in which they do it that makes all the difference.

They are nurses first.

This week the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (FANA) is celebrating National CRNA Week.

"The Florida Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (FANA) will be celebrating the 24th annual National CRNA Week, January 22-28, 2023, by recognizing the contributions of thousands of compassionate and caring CRNAs"

“As members of one of America’s most trusted professions, CRNAs have always served on the front lines of patient care from the beginning,” said Michelle L. Canale, DNP, CRNA, APRN, FAANA, president of the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. “We continue to answer the call to help keep patients healthy and safe, while providing access to anesthesia care.

While I forgot my CRNA's name, I do remember she was a sassy Russian woman whom I will call Natasha.

As Natasha busted my shops in pre-op, I was relieved to be told that by surgeon demanded that the room stop playing the Ariana Grande songs Natasha was listening to.

I requested that Metallica's "Master of Puppets" be played during the surgery, but have not been able to confirm if the song was played.

At least I wasn't made to listen to Ariana Grande.
