Adios Amigos! Viaje Bien.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s office has given context to the recent flying of illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, saying that all of the immigrants flown were given the option to do and given food and housing prior to agreeing to be sent north. DeSantis's immigration policy appears to be legal.

"These were homeless people that were in a rough situation and undoubtedly had their circumstance improved," said the DeSantis officials. "In fact, several have already communicated their thanks for the opportunity to go to the sanctuary state."

Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith (D), a Progressive state legislator from Orlando that has been at odds with Gov. DeSantis, is calling the Governor a “heartless bully” that believes those crossing the U.S. southern border illegally are “illegal aliens.”

According to the U.S. code, Rep. Smith is right.

An illegal alien…is any alien (1) whose most recent entry into the United States was without inspection, or (2) whose most recent admission to the United States was as a nonimmigrant and—(A) whose period of authorized stay as a nonimmigrant expired, or (B) whose unlawful status was known to the Government, before the date of the commission of the crime for which the alien is convicted.

—United States Code, Title 8, §1365(b)

Special Interests Take Special Interest in Florida

Just about every elected official and candidate for elected office is helped out financially by someone with a fiduciary interest in seeing them win their respective races.

Gov. DeSantis has raised big campaign cash from Florida businesses and outside groups vested in his governorship, but so has Rep. Charlie Crist over the years.

When Crist says that DeSantis is bought and paid for by “special interest” cash, that is the political pot calling the political kettle black. READ MORE
