Democratic and Republican lawmakers in Congress are always at each other’s throats about something.
For the past two weeks, House Republicans have been railing against how House Democrats want to keep Americans swimming in debt with their push to raise the national debt limit or the debt ceiling.
Democrats like Reps. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Darren Soto, and others, argue that the debt ceiling needs to be raised in order to pay for needed social programs like Medicaid and Social Security, and say that Republicans are hell-bent on cutting those programs.
Republicans like Sen. Rick Scott, say that “all the far left” or Democrats, want to do is “spend more money and raise YOUR taxes.”
“Democrats seem to forget that taxpayer dollars don't just grow on trees. It's taken out of YOUR paycheck. Reining in the MASSIVE spending spree is the only way to get our nation back on track, and that's exactly what I'm fighting to do,” stated Sen. Scott.
Eventually, both sides will come together and find a middle ground on the debt ceiling. We suspect that Democrats will concede to some cuts in order for the ceiling to be raised just a smidge.
