Sine Die?

Yep. Stick a fork in it and call it day. The 2022 legislative session is all but over with legislators expected to vote on a state budget this coming Monday.

As far as redistricting goes, well, that is another story. Gov. Ron DeSantis has his veto pen ready to strike down the legislature's proposed maps, forcing everyone to come back for a special session.

Florida Democrats have to be given a lot of credit for this legislative cycle.

All of their efforts, regardless of how valiant, were all shot down by Republican lawmakers. We must give credit where it's due.

Reps. Anna Eskamani, Carlos Guillermo Smith, Michael Grieco, Andrew Learned, and a host of other Democratic lawmakers didn't wave the white flag of surrender and challenged Republicans every step of the way.

Gov. DeSantis will now be signing more legislation into law, including the controversial immigration bill that was recently sent to his desk.

"The bill (SB 1808), among the 2022 legislative session’s most contentious issues, would prohibit state and local government agencies from contracting with companies “if the carrier is willfully providing any service in furtherance of transporting a person into the state of Florida knowing that the person is an unauthorized alien, except to facilitate the detention, removal or deportation of the person” from the state or the U.S." READ MORE


Paying at the Pump

The war in Ukraine is taking a toll on the global cost of oil has skyrocketed, leaving Americans in disbelief over the price of gas they are paying the pumps.

The Biden administration has banned U.S. oil production and is buying energy from other nations, nations like Venezuela that are in partnership with Russia.

In other words, the U.S. is funding Russia's illegal war against Ukraine by buying Venezuelan oil. READ MORE

Rick Scott-.@ZelenskyyUa made clear that @Ukraine needs fighter jets to combat Russia’s invasion & @SecBlinken said that NATO members have a “green light” to deliver those aircraft. The Biden admin must remove any roadblocks to getting this done so our allies can deliver.

Rep. Ted Deutch-I am concerned about the lack of transparency and reports of intimidation surrounding the Libyan parliament's vote to install a new government. All Libyan and int'l actors should work to maintain peace, security, and stability.

Byron Donalds-Are you serious? Our problem is terrible energy policy from @JoeBiden, not Florida's coastline. Get real! Tell the President to undo his energy exec orders. That will go a long way.

Rep. Val Demings-Just voted for defense and humanitarian aid for #Ukraine, to ban the import of Russian oil, and to strengthen the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act so that the United States can impose further sanctions on Russia.
