Late last year, Floridians were saddened to hear that First Lady Casey DeSantis was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Now, the First Lady is officially cancer free.

Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and his family initially received bipartisan support in the news of his wife's cancer diagnosis, but it only took so long until her condition became a political tool.  Some Democrats blamed DeSantis' absences on his attending his wife's chemo therapy appointments.

Fortunately, this is the last time anyone will hear about this because First Lady DeSantis is now cancer free.  In a statement today, the governor told Floridians and the world, "After going through both treatment and surgery for breast cancer, she is now considered cancer free."

The governor then credited, "All of you who have given thoughts and prayers to my family and my wife, thank you, "adding, "It’s lifted her spirits and made a tremendous difference."

"For all the women out there who are going through breast cancer right now – you can overcome this. I know it’s very difficult, but my wife is proof positive, and this is the exact type of news we had hoped for. She still has more to do, but I’m confident she’s going to make a full recovery. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. God Bless you all," said DeSantis

First Lady DeSantis also gave her own remarks on her updated condition, "There are no words to express how truly blessed, grateful and humbled I am to hear the words cancer free," said First Lady Casey DeSantis. "To those who are in the fight, know there is hope. Have faith and stay strong."
