Florida is all the buzz right now over the proposed Constitutional Carry bill Senator Jay Collins introduced this week.

Sen. Collins called Constitutional Carry a "God-given right."

This is not breaking news.

Well, it is considering how many gun violence activists were expected to and are reacting to the news announcing the legislative measure.

The Floridian was the very first media outlet to report back in June 2022 that then-House Speaker-designate Paul Renner would be introducing the Constitutional Carry measure during the 2023 legislative session. READ MORE

Gov. Ron DeSantis vowed to sign a Constitutional Carry bill

“The Legislature will get it done. I can’t tell you if it will be next week, six months, but I can tell you that before I am done as governor we will have a signature on that bill,” said Gov. DeSantis.

Former Speaker Chris Sprowls did not allow the gun measure former Rep. Anthony Sabatini proposed because it was Sabatini’s bill.

Sabatini, who was, is persona non grata in the Florida Legislature, and around the state, failed to get a Senate sponsor for his bill.

By failing or refusing to get a Senate sponsor, there was no way the measure would have been taken up.

According to a Senate staffer who asked that we keep his or her identity concealed for this story, even if Sabatini’s bill would have been given a second look during the now-concluded legislative session and subsequent special sessions, there was no way Sabatini’s name would have been allowed to be on any bill introduced in both the House and the Senate.

Interestingly enough, Sabatini lied during his failed congressional campaign, stating that he helped Gov. DeSantis pass his gun bill.

Sabatini’s Lie:

"Governor DeSantis and I have worked together to pass anti-grooming legislation, anti-rioting, and leftwing terrorism legislation, a constitutional carry bill, lower taxes, and now working towards passing abortion restrictions to protect the sanctity of life," stated Sabatini in a campaign email. READ MORE

Expect Sen. Collins’ gun measure to pass with flying colors in the Republican Super Majority legislature.

Trump vs. DeSantis

The highly anticipated Republican presidential primary slugfest between former President Donald Trump and Gov. DeSantis is about six months away.

We believe that Gov. DeSantis will announce his presidential run in July because he would have signed the state budget by then and the federal campaign reporting cycle ends June 30, allowing him time to transfer his state funds to federal funds (takes a couple of months).

In addition, DeSantis would not have to report how much he has raised until September 30.

Now it appears as if President Trump is trying to coopt DeSantis's education reform bona fides.

Trump wants to allow parents to vote in their school principles. READ MORE

Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick-Social Security and Medicare are vital for America’s seniors. House Democrats will always fight to protect these programs.

State Rep. Angie Nixon-After another senseless police killing, Florida lawmakers file #permitlesscarry so that anybody carries a gun with no background checks & no training. What a distaster. LEOs will operate like we’re all armed, untrained & dangerous. #NoPermitlessCarry!

Nikki Fried-In the last two fiscal years of my administration alone, 11,596 applicants for Concealed Weapons Licenses were found to be ineligible. Florida’s proposal would allow for those 11,596 ineligible individuals to have guns on our streets. Think about how f*cking dumb that is.

Jared Moskowitz-The Capital is like Hogwarts. I’ve been sorted into a House and I’m pretty sure the stairs have changed on me.

Paul Renner-As a Green Beret, Senator @JayCollinsFL knows what it means to fight for our freedoms. He is a true patriot who continues to do his part in protecting Floridians’ rights by filing constitutional carry legislation. Thank you, Senator, for joining us today.
