Andrew Gillum Falls Into Political Abyss

Andrew Gillum was the great not-so-white hope for Florida Democrats when he ran against then-Congressman Ron DeSantis for governor in 2018 and narrowly lost.

When The Floridian broke the story that he was found unconscious in a hotel room on Miami Beach after a night of alleged drug use with a male hooker, media outlets didn’t want to touch the story because of the X-rated image posted of a man that looked alike like Gillum.

Hours after we posted the story, Gillum’s attorney sent us a cease and desist letter demanding that we pull the image from the story, confirming to us that it was Gillum naked on the floor of a bathroom.

“To be clear, the public has no legitimate interest in any such photo, and its release appears to be based not on a desire to shed light on an important public event, but rather to appeal to the prurient interests of certain members of the public. Moreover, this blatant attempt to damage the reputation of a devoted public servant seeking treatment in the midst of a national emergency and global health crisis is appalling and demonstrates an utter disregard for decency and the privacy rights of Mr. Gillum and his family. The Article is a violation of Mr. Gillum’s rights to privacy and must be promptly removed.” - (Cease and Desist letter)

Gillum later checked himself into rehab and got on with his life, even though the feds were still investigating him for potentially committing fraud.

Now a 21-count federal indictment has hit Gillum right smack in the face, alleging that he committed wire fraud and redirected campaign funds to a third party to pay himself out.

“Conspiracy, Wire Fraud, And Making False Statements”

According to the United States Attorney’s Office of the North District of Florida, Gillum could face serious prison time if convicted. Gillum has already plead innocent to all charges.

Here is what Gillum is facing:

-20 years: Making False Statements

-20 years: Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud

-20 years: Wire Fraud

Florida Democrats, who championed Gillum even after the hotel incident and his stint in drug rehabilitation, are now turning their backs on him.

Do you blame them?

The 2022 midterm elections would turn out to be a bloodbath at the polls for Democrats, and Gillum’s arrest is the proverbial gallon of salt that was just poured into a gaping political wound.
