FDP vs RPOF

Both the Florida Democratic Party  (Florida Democrats) and the Republican Party of Florida (Florida GOP)have new leadership going into the 2024 Presidential election cycle.

While Republicans have a comfortable voter registration advantage over Democrats, Democrats have their work cut out for them, even with Nikki Fried having been elected to run the party this past weekend.

Fried narrowly defeated former State Senator Annette Taddeo in last Saturday’s vote, and Republicans were quick to pounce, joking that Fried was the candidate they were hoping to win.

Democrats have galvanized their new leader, but for Fried to be able to make significant changes and patch up the sunken SS Democrat ship will be a herculean lift.

RPOF Chairman Christian Ziegler jokingly tweeted two images of Fried in the past supporting Republican candidates for office. The images below are of Fried wearing a campaign t-shirt for both former Senators Joe Negron and Manny Diaz, Jr.

Tort Reform Praised

One of Gov. Ron DeSantis’s targeted issues in this upcoming legislative session is Tort Reform.

The DeSantis legislature, umm, the Republican-led Florida Legislature is moving along a Tort Reform measure.

The Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) has released a statement in support of Reps. Tom Fabricio and Tommy Gregory HB 837, an anti-Tort bill that recently passed in the House Civil Justice Subcommittee.

“AIF applauds Chairman Will Robinson and members of the House Civil Justice Subcommittee for supporting this bill today to advance much-needed, transformational reforms that will truly rebalance our state’s legal system and rein in lawsuit abuse. We would also like to thank the bill sponsors, Representatives Gregory and Fabricio, for spearheading this bold effort to tackle Florida’s problematic tort climate once and for all this session, as well as Governor Ron DeSantis, Speaker Paul Renner and President Kathleen Passidomo for their continued leadership on this issue.

“The significant changes made in this bill will help stop trial attorneys from filing countless frivolous lawsuits so they can make a profit while harming businesses across Florida and raising costs for consumers. AIF looks forward to seeing this good public policy continue through the process,” stated AIF CEO & President Brewster Bevis.
