As President Biden spends Presidents' Day on a surprise visit to Kiev, Ukraine; Florida Senators Rick Scott (R) and Marco Rubio (R) slam the Administration's attempts to politicize the military and its effects in reducing its readiness.

"Our military should be allowed to focus on becoming a killing machine that can strongly oppose Communist China, not distracted by @JoeBiden's woke policies," Sen. Scott tweets.

In the clip, Sen. Scott begins with telling of how "what you hear is how much time we're spending on having a woke military."

Speaking as a Navy veteran, Sen. Scott says "I thought our job was to be a lethal military that people are scared to death of us."

As such, he asks what Communist China believes about our focus on woke causes rather than military readiness.

Dov Zakheim, Senior Advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and former Reagan official, answers that "anybody in the US military wants to focus on their mission."

Additionally, Zakheim states that a survey conducted by the Reagan Institute indicates servicemembers say "politicization is a problem, the American people have reduced confidence and trust in the military because they believe the military is politicized."

This echoes similar concerns raised by Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) in January.

Similarly, Sen. Rubio has introduced a bill that would prohibit certain segments of the US's transgender population from serving. Specifically, those who "have a history of gender dysphoria or who have undergone gender reassignment surgery," according to Yahoo News.

Exceptions are made, however, to those who have been "stable in their biological sex" for three years before joining, thus no longer desiring to transition.

Sen. Rubio explains this move in a tweet, saying that "China is eroding our military edge."

"China is eroding our military edge Russia invaded Ukraine. N. Korea’s missiles can now reach the entire U.S. And Iran continues to progress towards nuclear weapons. This is no time to turn our military into a social experiment on gender reassignment," stated Rubio.
