Did Democrats get a New Lease on Political Life?

Florida Democrats were almost completely dead on arrival in the 2022 midterm elections, but the recently leaked Supreme Court opinion to ban abortion has given then new life, and possibly a chance at mitigating some of the gains Republicans are expected to garner this election cycle.

On Tuesday, top Democrats—Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, AG Commissioner Nikki Fried, State Senators Annette Taddeo and Lauren Book, and State Rep. Anna Eskamani—held rallies across Florida in opposition to the Supreme Court opinion.

Rep. Wasserman Schultz, who believes that if Roe v. Wade is repealed, that “sick man” Gov. Ron DeSantis would ban abortion at the state level.

Commissioner Fried agreed with Wasserman Schultz, as pro-Choice activists could be seen and heard chanting that “Abortion is healthcare.”

While the protests were all relatively peaceful, the rally in downtown Fort Lauderdale took a turn for the worse after several pro-Life activists showed up.

Attendees at the event lost their cool and began verbally and physically assaulting the protestors carrying pro-Life signs.

The confrontations were filled with racial slurs, profanity, vulgarity, and physicality. All good fun, right? READ MORE
