Where is Charlie Crist?

The rescue effort in Surfside continues, and Gov. Ron DeSantis and many Republican and Democratic elected officials and leaders have been “boots on the ground” the entire time, but that hasn’t stopped Rep. Crist from taking a political jab at him, even though he has yet to visit the building collapse site. READ MORE

AG Commissioner Nikki Fried has also been down in Miami but also took the liberty to politicize the tragedy. READ MORE.

But with all that said, is it fair to criticize both Fried and Crist for not being down in Surfside the entire time? Of course, it is, it’s about politics.

Since the building first came down, Crist has not been in Washington, he’s been home. Fried has been all over the place posing for pictures at the St. Petersburg Pride Festival event, holding press conferences around the state that have nothing to do with the building collapse. These press conferences could be seen as politically partisan events as well.

Everyone. Together. Let’s spell it out. H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y.

Meanwhile. DeSantis has just vetoed these four bills:

· CS/CS/SB 54 – Motor Vehicle Insurance

· SB 146 – Civic Literacy Education

· CS/SB 166 – Public Records

· SB 274 – Juvenile Diversion Program Expunction

But, he has also signed another 94 into law.

Credit to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava (both Democrats) for not politicizing the tragedy. Both have stood next to DeSantis and other Republicans to disseminate important rescue updates on a daily basis.

Wait. Oh, Wait. Rep. Wasserman Schultz, who refused to acknowledge DeSantis leadership during the rescue efforts, spoke on the House floor to ask for a moment of silence in regards to the building collapse. Crist was not present.

Mayor Gabriel Groisman @GabeGroisman-Hard to actually sleep when there are so many families from our community hurting.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz @RepDWStweets-As we gathered for a moment of silence on the Floor of the House, world-renowned search and rescue teams continued the days-long search for survivors in #Surfside. For the families of the missing, we continue to hold out hope.

Senator Jason Pizzo @senpizzo-If you’re on site in #Surfside, and need water or food, please do not be shy about sending me a DM. Almost everyone - rescuers, volunteers, media and agency staff have been truly amazing, and many are trying to be so respectful that they’re not asking for help. Please ask!!
