Taking on Progressive Colleges and Universities
The New College of Florida President Patricia Okker is out and Gov. Ron DeSantis has replaced her with none other than former Department of Education boss Richard Corcoran.
DeSantis made the announcement to replace Okker with Corcoran this week because he wants"actual history, actual philosophy that has shaped Western civilization” to be taught at the school.
DeSantis’s move here is to abolish DEI and Critical Race Theory.
Progressive activists and lawmakers are upset, as you can imagine.
Ida Eskamani, sister of State Rep. Anna Eskamani, echoed what former State Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith said about the Corcoran appointment, calling the move a “hostile takeover.”
“The grift never ends. Richard Corcoran couldn’t win the FSU College President selection, so instead, he gets
himself installed President of New College, via a hostile takeover by far-right lunatics,” stated Eskamani.
Smith, also called the appointment a “grift.”
Smith and Rep. Eskamani were both at New College in protest of DeSantis’s announcement. READ MORE
