Former Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer has toppled Former Florida House Representative George Moraitis and American Businessman Dan Franzese in the Republican Primary for Florida’s 25th Congressional District (FL CD 25).
Singer will face incumbent Democratic Congressman Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla) after defeating U.S. Navy veteran Moraitis by 4%.
All three candidates have strongly campaigned in favor of President Donald Trump’s “America First” initiative, promising to work with the President to ensure the agenda advances while in Congress.
Moraitis' campaign efforts, however, faced heavy scrutiny as the Conservative's previous voting record as a state representative was brought into question.
The Fort Lauderdale Republican’s odds of reaching the General Election were down, as recent polls indicated that his unfavourability score rose from 28% to 45%.
According to McLaughlin and Associates, within FL CD 25, Republican voters referred to the former Boca Raton Mayor as “two-faced” and “not MAGA [Make America Great Again].”
Despite Franzese’s 14-point leap from 4% at the start of his campaign to 28%, toppling Singer’s first-place spot by 9 points among Republican voters, the Fort Lauderdale runner-up still triumphed in the highly contentious race without a Trump endorsement.
Franzese, who received a Trump endorsement in 2022 during his bid for office, received roughly 26% of the vote, losing to Singer by a little over 2,000 votes.
Singer will now face off against two-term incumbent Rep. Moskowitz in the General Election on Nov. 3, 2026, in a slightly Republican-leaning battleground.
