Republican Primary candidate for Florida’s 25th Congressional District (FL CD 25) Dan Franzese is going all out against his opponents in the lead-up to the Florida primary election. The Palm Beach Republican called out former Florida State Representative and challenger George Moraitis for his previous voting record while in office.
“George Moraitis claims to be a conservative, but when the votes were on the line, he compromised on core Republican principles,” Franzese wrote in a series of posts on X, alluding to the fact that Moraitis could be a “RINO” (Republican in Name Only).
Moraitis' Votes On Gun Control Laws
Franzese brought up Moraitis’ votes in favor of “red flag confiscation laws,” increasing the legal minimum age to purchase firearms, and “mandatory waiting periods.”
The vote in reference pertains to Florida Senate Bill 7026; the landmark public safety and gun control law passed in 2018 in response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting.
“I will NEVER compromise on your Second Amendment rights. I will defend your constitutional freedoms 100% of the time,” Franzese wrote.
Moraitis' Vote On Authorizing Undocumented Higher Education
Additionally, Franzese called out Moraitis for voting on House Bill 851 back in 2014, a piece of legislation that authorized undocumented individuals to receive K-20 in Florida.
“Moraitis voted to give illegal aliens taxpayer-subsidized in-state college tuition rates right here in Florida. Our tax dollars should serve American citizens,” Franzese argued.
Franzese Says FL CD 25 "Doesn't Need Compromises"
“It’s no surprise Moraitis earned official endorsements from the ultra-liberal Miami Herald and South Florida Sun-Sentinel,” Franzese continued, arguing the FL CD 25 “doesn't need compromises or liberal media darlings.”
“We need a proven conservative who gets results,” Franzese affirmed.
Franzese has been taking the lead in support from Republican voters ahead of Florida’s Primary Election.
According to a recent poll from McLaughlin & Associates, the Delray Beach Republican toppled former Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer, sitting at 28% compared to Singer’s 19%.
