Two-term Incumbent Congressman Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) has defeated up-and-comer Democratic Socialist Oliver Larkin in the race for Florida’s 25th Congressional District Democratic Primary, winning a contentious battle to the General Election.
Rep. Moskowitz is one of the many Florida Democratic Representatives who have had to pivot across Congressional Districts following Gov. Ron DeSantis’ recently passed congressional redistricting bill.
Congressman Moskowitz traded places with Veteran Congresswoman Lois Frankel (D-Fla.), who decided to run for FL CD 23 amid the updated congressional map.
The Democratic Jewish-American Congressman secured the seat amid a rise in Democratic Socialists across the country who have sought to overtake the Democratic establishment and its ties to the Political Action Committees, most specifically the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
Larkin, a union organizer and young activist, sought to upend the incumbent Congressman’s tenure, promising to fight for issues such as Medicare for All, the suspension of foreign aid to Israel, and overturning the U.S. Supreme Court’s infamous Citizens United decision.
The battle, however, has not yet been won by Congressman Moskowitz, as he now has to secure the seat in a competitive district that President Donald Trump won in the 2024 Presidential Election by 9 percentage points.
Rep. Moskowitz will now be pitted against former Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer in the upcoming General Election on Nov. 3, 2026.
