Florida Republicans celebrated several election victories across the state by reaffirming the party's commitment to "freedom, prosperity, and local leadership" as the GOP struggled otherwise to gain traction with voters in New Jersey and Virginia this week.
“While other states veer left into chaos and higher taxes, Florida voters continue to choose leaders who believe in personal responsibility, strong families, and safe communities,” Florida GOP Chairman Evan Power said in a statement. “Last night’s victories show that our message is working. From the Panhandle to the Keys and everywhere in between, Floridians are voting Republican because they trust us to deliver results.”
Unlike New Jersey and Virginia, which both elected Democratic governors, Republicans saw a string of wins throughout the state, including:
- Bryan Calvo — mayor, Hialeah
- Sara Roberts McCarley — mayor, Lakeland
- Leslie Waters - mayor, Seminole
- Kimberly Konsky — Homestead City Council, Seat 1
- Erica G. Ávila — Homestead City Council Seat 5
- Sherri Quarrie — Melbourne Beach Town Commission, At-Large
- Dr. Terry Cronin — Melbourne Beach Town Commission, At-Large
- Chad Davis — Winter Haven City Commissioner, Seat 4
- Ashley Troutman — Lakeland City Commissioner, District C (Southwest)

Emilio Gonzalez also advanced in Miami's mayoral election set now for Dec. 9th. Gonzalez, a Republican in a nonpartisan race, is set to face Eileen Higgins after receiving the second most votes, but less than the 50-percent threshold to avoid a runoff.
The GOP also slammed Zohran Mamdani, calling him the "new face" of the Democratic Party in a separate release after his win in New York City's mayoral race.
“These victories are proof that conservative governance isn’t just a slogan — it’s a proven formula that delivers results,” Chairman Power added. “As states like New York embrace radical figures like Zohran Mamdani, Florida continues to lead the way. Florida Republicans are winning elections, solving problems, and keeping our state the envy of the nation.”
