Gov. DeSantis announced nearly $15.5 in infrastructure improvements and community development projects to twenty-two small and rural communities in North Florida while speaking at a press conference in Lake City in Columbia County today.
The funding is part of the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Community Planning Technical Assistance (CPTA) Grant programs.
CDPG funding includes.
- City of Lake City ($211,000) - Repave a portion of Northwest Georgia Avenue from Early Street to Wilson Street.
- Columbia County ($65,000) - Economic development strategic plan updates.
- City of Avon Park ($2,100,000) - Sanitary sewer lift station and sewer line replacement.
- City of Coleman ($3,000,000) - Water supply and treatment facility improvements.Â
- Hamilton County ($2,700,000) - Roadway access improvements supporting a manufacturing site.
- Hardee County ($1,800,000) - Sanitary sewer lift station and gravity sewer lines installation connecting to the Wauchula Hills wastewater treatment facility.
- Â Town of Bronson ($1,300,000) - Water distribution, wastewater collection, and street paving improvements supporting a Habitat for Humanity subdivision construction.Â
- Town of Horseshoe Beach ($3,000,000) - State Road 351 drainage improvements.Â

Gov. DeSantis's announcement follows another round of awards to small and rural communities through the CDPG and CPTA grant programs to Northwest Florida earlier this month. DeSantis also unveiled a statute of Lady Columbia during the press conference as part of America's ongoing 250th birthday celebration earlier in his remarks.
