WASHINGTON—Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) spoke to reporters on Capitol Hill to discuss how he advises former President Donald Trump (R) and his campaign to address Black voters across the country.
He started by mentioning that Black voters are looking to be able to pass a brighter future on to their children.
“What I really tell a lot of different people, not just [President Trump], is I think that Black voters in our country, they’re thinking about generational wealth,” said Rep. Donalds. “They’re thinking about ‘how do I pass something on to my kids?’ For a lot of Black voters in America, they’re not into this whole gender identity thing. That’s not a thing for them. That’s a turnoff for a lot of these voters, and so I think that as a [Republican] Party if we kind of stay focused on those ideals I think we’ll be fine.”
Rep. Donalds continued by slamming President Joe Biden (D) and his administration for how his policies have affected not only Black Americans but U.S. citizens of all demographics.
“Obviously how [President Biden] is handling immigration is not working in major cities. It’s not. And who gets impacted in major cities? Young Black kids. Young Hispanic kids. Young white kids. They’re the ones who get impacted by this,” said Donalds.
He concluded by saying, “The politicians are here to say whatever the hell they want. They don’t gotta deal with the realities. So, I think that’s the message we gotta keep pushing. And I think polling is already showing that it’s working and as long as we stay there we’ll be good.”
Moreover, after recent reports surfaced of Hunter Biden’s legal team appearing at the White House two days before he failed to appear at the House Oversight Committee despite receiving a subpoena, Donalds said President Joe Biden’s alleged involvement “makes all the sense in the world.”
“[The President’s] been very involved in everything that’s been going on. Why wouldn't he know that and speak with his son and his son’s attorney before this deposition? That just makes all the sense in the world,” said Rep. Donalds. “The thing that would not make sense is that if Hunter Biden was just calling all of the shots and doing what he wanted, we know that’s not been the case for easily a decade within his family. If not more.”
