DORAL—During a political breakfast fundraiser hosted by the Miami-Dade Republican Executive Committee, gubernatorial candidate Rep. Byron Donalds used this address to knock down the progressive Democratic-controlled cities of New York and Chicago, arguing that the state of Florida was primed to become the "financial capital of the world."

"In Florida, we have every ability to be the financial capital of the world. No more Chicago. No more New York. We are done," said Rep. Donalds, adding."Their policies are stupid; they just make no sense."

Donalds contends that under the Republican leadership in the state, "Florida has really been the model for other states because we have prioritized public safety," adding that lawmakers in cities like New York and Chicago were "dumb" for not prioritizing public safety.

Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power agreed with Rep. Donalds.

"Florida is the conservative beacon of freedom, and people are flocking to live, work, and vacation here. It’s time we brought the business out of radical left cities as we are already bringing their residents to Florida," said Chairman Power in a statement to The Floridian.

Miami-Dade Republican Party Chairman Kevin Cooper believes that because of the Miami-Dade Counties efforts to draw in tech and financial services companies like Blackrock, Softbank and Citadel, "Florida will soon become the financial capital of the world."

Over the past two decades, Florida has seen a significant growth in both technology and financial services as a result of the economic polices the former Governor Rick Scott and current Governor Ron DeSantis, have implemented.
