Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) discussed the recent Molotov cocktail terror attack in Boulder, Colorado, during a recent appearance on Fox Business's Varney & Co., saying it demonstrated the need for border security.
The suspected attacker, Mohamed Soliman, threw several Molotov cocktails at a group of pro-Israel demonstrators while shouting "Free Palestine!" Soliman is also an apparent illegal alien who overstayed his tourist visa, and the attack earned widespread condemnation from Florida lawmakers.
Host Stuart Varney asked Rep. Donalds how Congress could combat antisemitism, to which he said, "We have passed several pieces of legislation dealing with antisemitism at the federal level," and said he was "grateful that [FBI Director] Kash Patel and the FBI have stepped forward immediately in investigating this as a terror attack, as they should."
Rep. Donalds further commended the FBI for "supporting President Trump and his efforts of deportation, getting a lot of people out of the United States who, frankly, should not be here, and then also making sure our vetting processes for people coming into the United States are significantly better than they have been in the past."
"Those are things Congress actually can step up and do," the Florida Congressman continued, referencing H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, from last year, adding, "There is some stuff we need to do around visa reform to strengthen the visa verification process and the investigation process. And then the last piece, this illegal [alien] in particular, is a visa overstay. We have a significant problem with visa overstays, and we have to get our hands around that."
Donalds expressed support for creating a biometric exit system, which he noted was "a recommendation of the 9/11 Commission," and "that way, when people come into the country, they have to verify by biometrics, and when they leave the United States, we have to use the same verification process."
