Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) mocked Senator Alex Padilla's (D-CA) detainment by Secret Service agents in a recent appearance on Fox News's Ingraham Angle, saying he "wanted to make a name for himself."

As host Laura Ingraham described, Sen. Padilla tried to crash a press conference held by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in Los Angeles before being escorted out by Secret Service agents in handcuffs, not attempting to identify himself as a Senator until he was detained.

Noem says she met with Sen. Padilla for 15 minutes after the incident, prompting differing responses from Democrats and Republicans.

"My reaction is that Senator Padilla was really trying to make a name for himself," Rep. Donalds told Ingraham, adding, "Nobody even knew who the man was nationwide until right now."

"And let's be very clear," Rep. Donalds continued, "I was taught at a very young age by my mom: If you decide to push your way through police officers or security details, then you are taking your life into your own hands. They [the Secret Service] are there to protect Secretary Noem. We all know the security details of our Cabinet Secretaries. You do not see members of Congress pushing their way through unless they want to put themselves on TV. So that was a stunt."

The Florida Congressman further noted that the Trump Administration is "the most transparent administration we have ever seen," adding, "You could never get an answer out of Joe Biden or his Cabinet."

"So if he wanted answers, all he had to do was ask or schedule a meeting," Donalds concluded. "He did not want to do that. He wanted to make a name for himself, and he looked ridiculous in the process. The American people have to understand that these Democrats just want the limelight. They do not want real solutions to fix the problems brought by Joe Biden and the Democrats."
