Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) commented on the recent anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) attacks during an appearance on Fox Business's Evening Edit, saying Democrats' rhetoric has escalated from "defund the police" to "attack the police."
Rep. Steube also stated that "[Attorney General] Pam Bondi should investigate these elected officials if these Democratic elected officials are intentionally and willfully obstructing justice and obstructing the lawful actions of ICE. They should be held accountable, and if you start charging some of these leaders for obstructing justice, then I would imagine the behavior would change very, very quickly."
The host then played recent comments from President Donald Trump about the Alvarado and McAllen shootings, in which he said, "There is money being put behind people," and vowed to investigate, asking Rep. Steube if he believed the attacks were coordinated.
"I would not be surprised," the Florida Congressman answered, comparing it to the organized nature of the 2020 riots, adding, "I hope that the FBI is going to work with the ICE agents and all of the law enforcement agencies that are involved to investigate this."
The conversation shifted to a recent bill Democrats have introduced that would prohibit ICE agents from wearing masks during their operations, which Republicans have said compromises the agents' safety and leaves them vulnerable to doxxing and further violence.
"I have family in law enforcement," Steube commented. "When you are doing SWAT raids, and you are doing things with dangerous people, absolutely, you want to conceal your identity. It is crazy that, again, they have gone from this 'defund the police' mantra to now 'attack the police,' and now they want to make it available to know who all these individuals are. It is absolutely insane."
Moreover, he said the bill would never pass and "shows you exactly what they are standing for. They are standing for illegal immigrants who are being deported. Rapists, criminals, and terrorists and not standing with the American people. It is amazing, the political calculation here: They care more about people being deported who are criminal aliens than they do the American people and ICE agents who every day are putting their lives on the line."
