His 2024 presidential campaign was a failure, and he spent tens of millions of dollars for a distant second-place finish in the Iowa Caucuses, but Gov. Ron DeSantis doesn't appear to have skipped a political beat when it comes to governing. Since dropping out of the race against former President Donald Trump, Gov.DeSantis has been traversing the state of Florida signing legislation, and continuing a quasi-campaign for president. Well, that is what I think. He says he hasn't ruled out a run for President in 2028, so why not use the last two years of his stint as governor of Florida to continue to maximize his exposure around the state and country?
After all, DeSantis is still "America's Governor" and if he wants to mount a run in 2028, he is going to have to continue being the nation's top governor.
Remember, DeSantis loses his gubernatorial bully pulpit in 2026. So, it will be that much harder to raise campaign cash.
Over the past several weeks, DeSantis has jetted around the state signing bills no less than 10 times, with his latest stop being in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he and Rep. Chip LaMarca toasted the signing of a new wine bill that allows wine merchants to sell larger volume bottles of wine.
Bottoms up for 2028?
