FORT LAUDERDALE—After Disney officially dropped its lawsuits against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, lawsuits filed in hopes of regaining and solidifying their property rights in special district Reedy Creek, we asked the governor if he was going to be taking his family to Disney World now that the feuding has ended.

Gov. DeSantis’ response was nothing more than a casting of shade on Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck, as he began to talk about taking his family to Universal over Spring Break.

“On Spring break we took our kids to Universal’s Islands of Adventure and the Studios, it was crowded. When you went into those Harry Potter areas it was packed, unbelievable. They are just printing money with Harry Potter…And then they have Epic Universe coming,” said DeSantis.

“We would like to see more development in that area,” added Gov.DeSantis, before saying that if Disney wanted to answer Universal’s new theme park, the State of Florida “would be happy” to negotiate that.

DeSantis never gave a direct answer about taking his kids to Disney, but his pivot to praising Universal Studios speaks volumes.
