Pakistan’s prime minister Shebaz Sharif confirmed that “a final, agreed-upon text of the peace deal” between the U.S. and Iran has officially been reached, with the country working closely with both parties to finalize the “next steps.”
“Peace has never been this close as it is now,” Sharif affirmed in his statement on X.
Sharif’s confirmation comes nearly 24 hours after President Donald Trump “cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran,” after the Islamic Republic’s “highest level of leadership” opened the door to a peace deal.
Iran Foreign Minister Tells Media To Refrain From Speculation
Prior to Sharif’s announcement, both Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and President Trump acknowledged reports from news outlets that detailed potential agreed-upon terms between both parties.
“The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer,” Araghchi wrote on X, additionally nodding to a finalized agreement.
“Pending its finalization, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content,” the foreign minister advised, promising to share the details with the public in due time.
President Trump reposted Araghchi’s statement on Truth Social, seemingly endorsing the Foreign Minister’s words.
President Trump also called out Iran and the media, arguing that the terms being leaked by Iran “have NOTHING to do with the terms that were agreed to, in writing.”
JD Vance Clarifies "Fake Information"
Vice President JD Vance additionally addressed the “fake information” about a potential agreement that includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the end of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear weapons program.
“First, the Iranians are not receiving any cash, and no funds are being released for simply signing a deal or attending a meeting. The deal is structured to ensure that the US and its allies concerns are prioritized, and that if the Islamic Republic of Iran meets its obligations, then economic benefits will flow to them and to the entire region,” Vance wrote.
“The president is going to get us a good outcome, one way or the other,” he concluded.
