He's finally in! Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D) has finally announced that he will be running for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives in Florida's newly-drawn 25th Congressional District.

The sneaker-wearing political savoir and pint-sized powerhouse lawmaker, who has entertained the World of "X" with his sarcasm and humorous banter against the James Comers of social media, is favored to defeat whoever the Republican nominee is in this "toss-up" congressional district.

Rep. Moskowitz is considered a very centrist Democrat and is liked among Republican and Independent voters, but considering how Trump-endorsed candidates have performed during the 2026 midterm election cycle, he could face a tough general election challenge.

Congressman Jared Moskowitz today formally announced his candidacy for Florida’s newly drawn 25th Congressional District, launching a campaign focused on lowering costs for Florida families, restoring normalcy to American politics, and standing up to the growing rise of antisemitism and political extremism.

“The American people are struggling to afford a regular way of life. Many barely have enough money for their bills and feel squeezed by rising costs. We must work together to bring back the American dream for the middle class in America. I have never hesitated to work with anyone across the aisle if I think it’ll improve the lives of my constituents,” Rep. Moskowitz said.

The newly drawn district is rated by the Cook Political Report as a Toss-up, making it one of the most competitive congressional districts in the country. In addition to being a Toss-Up, the district is 35.9% Independent, 31.2% Democrat, 32.9% Republican, and is also estimated to be25% Jewish.

With the rise in antisemitism across the country, Moskowitz, along with fellow Florida Reps. Randy Fine (R) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D), have been at the tip of the spear in denouncing the hate directed at Jews and Israelis. Moskowitz appears to be running on his Jewish faith.

Democratic Jewish-American lawmakers like Moskowitz and Wasserman Schultz have openly several of the Democratic colleagues who have espoused anti-Jewish sentiments.

“Political extremism is expanding, and antisemitism is spreading and becoming mainstream. I am only here because my grandparents escaped Europe in WWII. My grandmother escaped Berlin, Germany through the Kindertransport. Because of good people who stood up to evil, my family was able to come to America and build a life in South Florida. So, when I see people in my own party talking about concentration camps or deporting Jews, I am going to be an immovable object to that movement. My kids are never going to hide in attics,” Moskowitz continued. As the only member of Congress who was appointed by a sitting Governor of the opposite party, I have proven my willingness to solve even the toughest of problems. From helping Florida recover from Hurricane Michael to leading the state’s COVID response, I have taken on some of the toughest challenges our state has faced and focused on delivering results for Floridians,” Moskowitz concluded.

National Republicans have targeted Moskowitz in anticipation of redistricting, and are now taking another swipe at him as he announces his reelection bid.

"Least Effective Florida Democrat Jared Moskowitz just sealed his own political fate. Lil’ Jared was already on his way to losing this fall, and by choosing to run in a district President Trump won by nine points, he has guaranteed a loss in November. We wish him well as he prepares to shift his focus to growing his sneaker collection and landing a talk show on MS NOW," stated NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O'Toole

Republicans Mayor Scott Singer, George Moraitis, Joe Kaufman, Dan Franzese, and Claudia Villatoro are currently vying to become the Republican nominee, but a new candidate is expected to enter the race that could position themselves as the favorite to win the Republican primary.
