DeSantis Names Ted Veerman as Deputy Press Secretary

The governor has added a new member to his team.

The office of Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Ted Veerman as its new Deputy Press Secretary to the governor this week. The addition of Veerman follows a previous announcement by Gov. Ron DeSantis to his team in September.

Ted Veerman is an experienced communications and legislative professional, having served in various roles in national, state, and local government operations.

Mr. Veerman began his career working on congressional campaigns, leading political efforts across the East Coast. Originally based in New England, then Washington, D.C., Mr. Veerman first came to Florida as a campaign manager in the 2022 cycle, where he played a role in races across Florida and the nation.

After the election, he relocated to Tallahassee as a Senate aide, where his role included directing external communications, advising on political and policy matters, and managing a legislative team.

After the 2023 Legislative Session, Mr. Veerman joined the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) as Deputy Legislative Affairs Director, where he advocated for the agency’s goals within the Legislature. In 2024, he was named Communications Director for FDC, where he spearheaded the agency’s internal and external communications initiatives.
