WHITE HOUSE—Standing alongside Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, President Donald Trump addressed the nation over the “massive precision strikes” that U.S. Air Force B-2 bombers conducted against three of Iran's nuclear enrichment sites.
President Trump was very brief and direct, saying that the nuclear sites that “the bully of the Middle East” had were “completely and totally obliterated.”
“This cannot continue. There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last 8 days,” said President Trump, adding that he is ready to order more strikes against secondary targets in the coming days.
Less than an hour before Iran’s nuclear sites were bombed, Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D), a staunch supporter of Israel, told The Floridian that she would like the Trump administration to exhaust all diplomatic efforts before calling for any military action against the Islamic state.
“It is possible that a precision strike might be necessary, if that is the only way to ensure that Iran never gets a nuclear weapon,” said Rep. Wasserman Schultz.
Freshman Rep. Randy Fine (R), who is arguably one the most outspoken supporters of Israel and President Trump, envoked the 2024 assasination attempt against Trump in his response to the strikes against Iran’s nuclear sites.
“Gd saved his life so he could save the world,” stated Rep. Fine.
Several days ago, Trump stated that negotiations with Iran had all but failed and announced a two-week window to address any possible military operations against Iran.
Days before Trump made his threat against the Iranian regime, Rep. Cory Mills reiterated that Trump really wanted to see a negotiated peace deal with Iran.
“President Trump wants Iran to come to the negotiating table and has been very clear about what he expects. The reality is nobody wants a nuclear capable Iran," said Rep. Mills. “The Iranian regime chose the path of the aggressor and they will lose.”
According to the Trump administration, six "Bunker Buster" bombs and 30 Tomahawk missiles were used to strike Iran.
