Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R) becomes the latest member of the U.S. House of Representatives to join the bipartisan call for members to “Stand with Israel” and had given House Democrats like Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib an ultimatum: “Either you stand with Israel or you stand with terrorists.”
The line in the sand has been drawn.
Rep. Gimenez, who joins Jewish lawmakers and fellow Florida Reps. Ted Deutch(D) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) in denouncing the terror attacks and calling and defending Israel's right to defend itself, tweeted his ultimatum along with a House Resolution he introduced condemning the latest acts of terrorism by Hamas against Israel.
"Each Member of Congress now has a decision to make. Either you #StandWithIsrael or you stand with the terrorists."- Rep. Carlos Gimenez
Gimenez’s resolution if you typical boilerplate resolution supporting Israel —condemn the acts of terrorism by Hamas; acknowledge Jerusalem is the rightful capital of Israel, and Israel’s right to self-determination, but now he has called out members on the decision they now have to make.
I just introduced a resolution condemning the acts of terrorism by Hamas against the State of #Israel.

Palestinians rights to nonviolent resistance have been curtailed and even criminalized,” said Tlaib. “ Our party leaders have spoken forcefully against BDS calling its proponents antisemitic, despite the same tactics being critically critical to ending the South African apartheid mere decades ago. What we are telling Palestinians fighting apartheid is the same thing being told to my black neighbors and Americans throughout that are fighting against police brutality here there is no form of acceptable resistance to state violence.”
“Our military support for Israel is unconditional. Netanyahu’s extremism, right-wing government will continue to expand settlements, continue to demolish homes, and continue to make the prospects for peace impossible.” Said Tlaib. “330 of my own colleagues Democrats and Republicans here, 75% of the body here, signed a letter pledging that Israel shall never be made, made to comply with basic human rights laws that
“That this is not a conflict between two states this is not a civil war it is a conflict where one country funded and supported by the United States government continues an illegal military occupation over another group of people.”- Rep. Ilhan Omar
When the vote comes down if it comes down, will Progressives vote against acknowledging Israel as a sovereign country?
