Representative Vern Buchanan (R-FL) is introducing legislation to deport illegal aliens convicted of crimes related to rioting in the wake of the ongoing Los Angeles riots.

Specifically, Rep. Buchanan's Returning Illegals Over Turmoil (RIOT) Act would render any illegal alien, lawful permanent resident, or DACA recipient deportable and permanently inadmissible to the United States if they are convicted of assaulting a police officer or service member, vandalism, or destruction of public property during a declared emergency.

"Lawless illegals who attack law enforcement officers and destroy property while waving foreign flags should be arrested and deported immediately," Rep. Buchanan said in his press release, adding, "There is no place in America for the kind of violence that we are seeing this weekend in Los Angeles. I'm proud to be an original cosponsor of the RIOT Act and urge Congress to pass it into law to hold violent illegal aliens accountable."

Additionally, the Florida Congressman said the recent violence in Los Angeles demonstrates the need for the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill" to pass out of the Senate so the border security measures contained within it can be implemented, saying, "The riots in L.A. underscore the immediate need to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. ICE agents are on the front lines protecting our communities as they detain and deport violent illegal aliens; we have an obligation to pass the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act to help these agents do their jobs, secure our border, and keep America safe."

In February, Buchanan introduced a similar bill deporting all illegal aliens found to be members of criminal gangs, with additional provisions denying them the right to asylum, temporary protected status (TPS), and special immigrant juvenile status, as current law cannot deport gang members until they commit an independent crime.

"If the Biden administration had been doing its job, Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, and countless others murdered by criminal illegals would still be alive," the Florida Congressman said, adding, "Congress needs to pass my CriminalnAlien Gang Member Removal Act to make sure violent criminal illegals are immediately deported and never allowed to enter our country again."
