Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) Chair Evan Power, the self-proclaimed “Conservative Fighter,” has announced his congressional bid.
Just one day after telling reporters at the Florida Capitol that he was “strongly considering” launching a congressional bid to succeed the retiring Florida Rep. Neal Dunn (R-FL), RPOF Chair Power has announced his campaign.
In a press release distributed on social media, the announcement declared that RPOF Chair Power is a “proven winner ready to partner with President Trump to deliver results and fight for ‘America First’ values.”
In a statement, the congressional hopeful commented that “Florida became the gold standard for winning as a conservative – because we fought, we organized, and we never backed down.” “I stood with President Trump’s record-setting 13-point landslide victory in Florida in 2024, one of the strongest performances for a Republican presidential candidate in modern history.”
Before his announcement, members of Congress and Florida lawmakers alike shared their support for the RPOF chair to enter the race, praising him for his accomplishments and political acumen.
In a comment to The Floridian, a member of Congress who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that “Evan Power would make a great addition to the Florida congressional delegation.”
State Rep. Juan C. Porras (R-FL) also weighed in on, at the time, RPOF Chair Power’s potential as a candidate.
“FL is a Republican stronghold because of leaders like @EvanPower who have kept our party infrastructure solid,” the Republican lawmaker shared on X. “He will do an amazing job in Congress.”
Rep. Dunn announced his retirement this week, assuring that “the time has come to pass the torch to new conservative leaders, return home to Panama City, and spend more precious time with my family and our beloved grandchildren.”
He’s represented Florida’s 2nd congressional district since 2017.
The seat is expected to remain Republican.
