Representative Neal Dunn (R-FL) has announced he will not seek reelection in the 2026 midterms, announcing, "The time has come to pass the torch to new conservative leaders."
In a statement, Rep. Dunn said, "After much prayerful consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided not to seek re-election to the United States House of Representatives. This will conclude my service after five meaningful terms representing the people of Florida's Second Congressional District."
Rep. Dunn emphasized his previous military and medical service, adding, "I brought my commitment to life, liberty, and conservative values to Washington. It has been my greatest honor to fight for lower taxes, our military and veterans, the unborn, healthcare innovation, and policies that empower Americans over bureaucracy and addressing threats from Communist China, Russia, and others."
In 2025 alone, the longtime Florida congressman introduced a slew of bills and legislative pieces, beginning with his Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act in February. March saw the introduction of the Block Organ Transplant Purchases from China (BLOCK) Act, followed by the FEMA Loan Interest Payment Relief Act in April.
In May, Dunn introduced the Secure U.S. Leadership in Space Act and the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act (ELSA). Then, in June, he introduced the Streamlined FEMA Cost Exemption Act, and one of his final bills, introduced in September, was the bipartisan Sickle Cell Disease Comprehensive Care Act.
"The time has come to pass the torch to new conservative leaders, return home to Panama City, and spend more precious time with my family and our beloved grandchildren," Dunn concluded. "I am deeply grateful for your trust, support, and prayers over these years. America remains the greatest nation on Earth, and with God's blessing, our best days are ahead. Thank you, and God bless you all."
