Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Blaise Ingoglia highlighted some of his accomplishments in his first 100 days as CFO in a social media post this week. Ingoglia, appointed to the post by Gov. Ron DeSantis, is seeking a full term as CFO in the November 2026 election.
"We have hit the ground running," Ingoglia wrote.
- Launched our taxpayer watchdog FAFO [Florida Agency for Fiscal Oversight] audits.
- Exposed nearly 1.2 BILLION in wasteful spending across local governments (so far).
- Awarded $14.6 million to support firefighters across the state.
- Awarded $1.8 million to support law enforcement’s anti-illegal immigration efforts.
Since taking the job in July, Ingoglia has criss-crossed the state in an effort to uncover wasteful spending in Democratic and Republican areas as part of FAFO, an unofficial name for the state's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Ingoglia's findings have included the following areas:
- Seminole County ($48 million)
- Alachua County ($84 million)
- Broward County ($189 million)
- Orange County ($199 million)
- Hillsborough County ($278 million)
Known as the state's "conservative pitbull," Ingoglia has also probed the City of Jacksonville and Miami-Dade County, two of Florida's largest areas, for excessive spending habits. In particular, Ingoglia slammed Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan for being nearly $200 million over budget.
Along with his accomplishments, Ingoglia has received several endorsements in his election bid, including from 60 Florida sheriffs just days ago. The Spring Hill Republican, who served in the Florida Senate until 2022, has also been endorsed by more than 40 Tampa Bay area lawmakers.
Is there anyone who can compete with Ingoglia's resume?
Well, one ambitious entrepreneur thinks he can. John D. Smith, who appeared on the popular business reality show Shark Tank, announced he's challenging Florida's current CFO in a video launch earlier this month.
Smith, owner and inventor of Storm Stoppers Hurricane Window Protection, is hoping his popular product and Ingoglia's alleged refusal to support it are enough to convince voters to give him a chance.
The CFO election is set for Nov. 3, 2026.
