Miami mayoral candidate Emilio T. Gonzalez is slamming the suspension of his official campaign X account, claiming political insiders did it to silence city voters and stifle reform in his bid.
According to a release from the Gonzalez campaign, X indicated a "high likelihood" that political rivals precipitated the suspension by orchestrating "en masse" reports of campaign posts to engineer violations of community standards.
"This comes straight out of the socialist playbook," Gonzalez argued. "First, they tried to cancel this year's election to deny Miami voters their voice. Now, they're leaning on big tech censorship and dirty tricks to suppress our Miami First movement. Let me be clear: they will not succeed. The people of Miami deserve better than corrupt insiders who steal elections and silence dissent."
Adding to the suspicion, Gonzalez emphasized that his message of reform, accountability, and affordability for Miami residents was gaining steam, and leaving his opponents resorting to desperate ploys to derail his campaign.
Gonzalez was at the forefront in keeping Miami's 2026 election in place after City Commissioners and others attempted to move it to next year. He has also been active in outlining his plans for the city in a series of proposals over the past several weeks.
Could his fight to keep the mayoral election this November be associated with specific insiders in City Hall?
For now, Gonzalez's campaign indicated they were "actively" working with X to restore the campaign account to "continue delivering its message directly to voters without interruption."
"We will not be intimidated," Gonzalez said. "This campaign is powered by the people of Miami - not the elites, not the insiders, and certainly not big tech executives doing the bidding of rival campaigns. Our voices will be heard, and our movement will not be silenced."
The Miami mayoral election is set for Nov. 4, 2025.
