July 28th, 2026, marks the 130th anniversary of The City of Miami. To commemorate the milestone, several members of Congress representing the Magic City took to social media to celebrate the achievement.

Miami's History
The city’s incorporation came to be after Julia Tuttle, known as the “Mother of Miami” – with the help of William and Mary Brickell – convinced industrialist Henry Flagler to extend his Florida East Coast Railway to the “305.”
Since the 1960s, Miami has become a cultural melting pot as the city experienced population growth from different ethnic groups. Bahamians, Cubans, Venezuelans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, Peruvians, Central Americans, Dominicans, and so many more have cultivated the “Magic City” into a diverse and unique space within the state of Florida.
