The Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) recently announced the endorsement of Republican candidate Ralph Massullo in the upcoming special election for Florida Senate District 11. Massullo is running to replace Blaise Ingoglia, who just became Florida's new chief financial officer.

"As a physician, a business owner, and a former state representative, Ralph has been a leader in his community for more than two decades and has served his neighbors admirably,” AIF President and CEO Brewster Bevis said. “During his time in the legislature, he proved he will fight for the best interests of not only his fellow Floridians, but the business community as well. Ralph understands the importance of ensuring Florida’s economy continues to thrive, so its residents can prosper, and that’s why AIF is proud to extend our support to his Senate campaign.”

Massullo, a physician and business owner for three decades, is no stranger to politics. The 68-year-old served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2022.

The AIF is known as "The Voice of Florida Business” in the Sunshine State.

Specifically, the AIF has represented the principles of prosperity and free enterprise before the three branches of state government since 1920. Moreover, it was founded to promote an economic environment in Florida "conducive to the growth, development, and welfare of industry and business and the people of the state."

“Florida’s business community is the engine of our state’s prosperity—driving innovation, creating jobs, and powering the economic freedom that makes Florida a model for the nation,” Massullo said. “I am proud of the work the legislature has done to make Florida the best place to start and run a business, and I am grateful for AIF’s support.”

SD 11 covers Citrus, Hernando, and Sumter counties, as well as parts of Pasco County. Massullo has a good chance of replacing Ingoglia, who won the bright red district by over 39 points in the 2024 general election.

A date for the special election has not been set.
