The play to garner the coveted endorsement of President Donald Trump continues across the country in virtually every contested Republican congressional district. America First congressional ally and Trump ally, Casey Askar, has just announced that he will file legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives to rename the west-coast stretch of I-75 in South Florida, the "President Donald J. Trump Interstate."
The highway commonly known as "Alligator Alley" starts in Congressional District 22 in Collier County and cuts through the Everglades all the way through the Democratic stronghold of Broward County.
“President Donald Trump continues to move America forward on the road to prosperity," stated Askar in a press release.
Askar, who claims he helped President Trump win Michigan in the 2024 presidential election by delivering the Chaldean Christian vote, explains his reasoning by appealing to his honor for the president.
"Let’s continue to honor his America First accomplishments, accomplishments that keep our families safe, build on our American exceptionalism, keep our borders secure, and protect our American way of life,” added Askar.
Askar's announcement comes on the heels (pun intended) of another Trump ally, Rep. Meg "MAGA Meg' Weinberger's renaming of a four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard between Kirk Road and South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach County after the current and former president.
Another Florida highway is also set to be officially renamed in honor of President Trump.
The newly-drawn congressional district Askar is running in leans Republican and is one of the races to watch in the 2026 midterm elections. The district is represented by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D), who recently announced that she would be running for re-election in the safe Democratic seat of the 20th District.
The primary election will be held on August 18th. Michael Carbonara, David Burck, Richard Evans, Terri Hasdorff, Belinda Keiser, and Michael Thompson are all challenging Askar.
