State Senate President Kathleen Passidomo (R-28) has endorsed businessman Casey Askar in his bid to be the Republican nominee for Florida's 22nd Congressional District race.

What Passidomo is Saying

State Sen. Passidomo lauded Askar as "having lived in Collier County for more than 25 years." She further noted that "Casey will ensure our community is well-represented in Washington. He's a successful businessman who has created jobs and opportunity for many. He'll bring the same leadership and problem-solving acumen to tackle the challenges that face our nation."

In his response, Askar said, "I am honored to have received the endorsement of Senator Kathleen Passidomo, one of Florida's great legislators who has fought alongside Governor Ron DeSantis to implement the winning America First, Florida First agenda for Floridians."

Askar's Other Endorsements

This marks another significant endorsement for Askar since his campaign began in mid-May.

At the beginning of June, Askar scored the endorsement of Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), with Rep. Bilirakis calling Askar "an American success story who has used his abilities to create jobs and help his fellow Americans."

Rep. Bilirakis is a significant ally of President Donald Trump in Congress.

A few days later, Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk gave his coveted seal of approval to Askar, saying, "Casey understands that public safety begins with strong law enforcement, secure borders, and leaders who are willing to stand up for the rule of law."

The District 22 Race So Far

The Floridian has been tracking the ups and downs of the Republican primary for District 22, which includes Michael Carbonara, Belinda Kesier, Michael Thompson, David Burck, and others.

Shortly after Rambosk endorsed Askar, an apparent shadow group began a smear campaign against Askar through a website, questioning his relationship with Trump, his ex-wife, and military service, allegedly in support of Belinda Keiser.

However, the website is not affiliated with Keiser, and numerous foreign bots were making the allegations against Askar on social media.
