The Republican congressional primary contest in Florida's 22nd District is in full swing and business leader and Trump ally Casey Askar has just landed the coveted endorsement of Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk.

Sheriff Rambosk expressed his belief that Askar's understanding of "public safety begins with strong law enforcement, secure borders, and leaders who are willing to stand up for the rule of law," make him the clear choice his choice for Congress.

“As Sheriff, my top priority has always been keeping our communities safe, supporting the men and women who wear the badge, and ensuring families can live, work, and raise their families in secure neighborhoods.  That is why I am proud to support Casey Askar for Congress," stated Sheriff Rambosk. “Casey understands that public safety begins with strong law enforcement, secure borders, and leaders who are willing to stand up for the rule of law.  He recognizes the sacrifices made every day by our deputies, police officers, firefighters, and first responders, and he has consistently expressed his commitment to ensuring they have the resources and support they need to do their jobs effectively.

Rambosk continued.

“At a time when many in Washington talk about problems but fail to deliver solutions, Casey Askar has the character, experience, and determination to fight for safer communities, stronger families, and a more secure future for Southwest Florida.  I am proud to stand with Casey Askar and ask for your support on Election Day," he added.

Askar, a U.S. Marine veteran who over the years has supported local law enforcement in Collier County, praised Rambosk commitment to public safety while at the same time accepting the show of support.

"I am honored to have the support of our esteemed Sheriff of Collier County, Kevin Rambosk.  Kevin has been at the forefront of keeping Collier County safe, and I wouldn’t be prouder to have his endorsement," stated Askar.

Askar who recently announced Rep. Gus Bilirakis' endorsement, could be considered the frontrunner in the soon-to-be heated Republican primary contest.

It appears as if this race will boil down to two or three self-funding candidates, Keiser University Vice Chancellor Belinda Keiser, Michael Carbonara, and Askar.

Keiser, who recently announced four congressional endorsements of her own, is making her second attempt at elected office. Keiser ran and lost to Sen. Gayle Harrel by 10 percentage points back in 2018 when she ran in the special election for Florida State Senate District 25.

This is also Askar's second political rodeo. In 2022, Askar narrowly lost his congressional primary race in Florida's 19th District to now-Rep. Byron Donalds by 2 percentage points.

This is Carbonara's first run for office.

The rest of the crowded Republican field in CD 22 that includes David Burck, Deborah Adeimy and Herbert Wertheim.
