Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) accused Representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) of treason over allegedly aiding Cuba evade the ongoing oil blockade by President Donald Trump.

Rep. Jayapal recently suggested in Seattle that she spoke with foreign ambassadors during a Congressional delegation to Cuba on ensuring the island can continue to import oil, despite President Trump's blockade.

In footage shared by host Maria Bartiromo, Rep. Jayapal said, "I know other countries in Latin America are trying to figure out how to get oil there, but it is a crisis beyond imagination."

During an appearance on Fox Business'sĀ Mornings with Maria, Sen. Moody responded, saying, "Treason is outlined right there in our Constitution. You cannot give aid or comfort to enemies. It is also a statute."

She noted that Reps. Jayapal and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) have visited Cuba more than once, which Sen. Moody says "has not been something that members of Congress do repeatedly."

"This is the new Progressive Caucus, which are basically communists," the Florida Senator commented. "Look at what they are espousing around the nation, what they are trying to do by cracking down on businesses, [installing] government-run businesses, pushing people out of these areas, making people rely on the government. That is communism 101."

Moody called such a leftward shift among Democrats "unbelievable" and suggested that "all of the Democrats that have given these people cover should be ashamed."

"This ain't your daddy's Democrat Party anymore," she declared. "This is people who believe in a different form of government than they do, they work against and do not believe in the United States of America, and you have got to have strong Senators and House members pushing back on this type of activity."

Moody suggested that Jayapal likely will face ethics violations and a potential criminal investigation for her recent actions.
