Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton claimed that she has no information on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's criminal past before the U.S. House Oversight Committee Republicans in New York this week. She also claimed that she does not recall ever meeting him.
Hillary Clinton and Former President Bill Clinton are currently testifying before the U.S. House Oversight Committee Republicans in New York as part of a congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, which is set to take place over two days.
The closed-door interviews come after several months of heated exchanges between the Republican-led House Oversight Committee and the Clintons.
The Clintons agreed to testify after Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the committee’s chairman, and the rest of the commission rejected their sworn statements, threatening the two with criminal contempt of Congress if they refused to present themselves.
The depositions will be the first time a former president has been obligated to testify before Congress, an effort that showcases the demand for justice against Epstein’s actions from across both aisles of Congress and beyond.
During the exchanges, Hillary challenged committee members to take their testimony in a public hearing rather than a closed session.
“You love to talk about transparency. There's nothing more transparent than a public hearing, cameras on,” Secretary Clinton wrote on social media.
The Floridian will update this story with new information when it comes out.
