WASHINGTON— Florida Rep. Cory Mills (R) has joined just about every Republican lawmaker in praising President Donald Trump for arresting Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro, referring to him as "The Liberator of the Americas" during a recent interview with The Floridian.
Rep. Mills made the remark when asked for his views on the recent U.S. Military operation that led to Dictator Maduro and his wife's arrest by U.S. Special Forces and law enforcement earlier this month, and point out that the capture Maduro was responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans.
"The President’s kinda Trump Doctrine/ Monroe Corollary has been all about being a protector and liberator of the Americas," said Rep. Mills. "This is an individual who when in understanding the illegitimate presidency of Maduro, understanding his position as a cartel leader, which has led to thousands and thousands of Angel Families here in the United States."
Mills continued, pointing to Trump's recent designation of drug cartels as terrorist organizations to be able to us military kinetic force to stop the ongoing drug trade, but also made the point that the move to remove Maduro was in direct response to Chinese Communist Party's growing influence in the region.

"What people are failing to understand is that Venezuela was not just about oil and drugs, it was also about denying our adversaries of key natural resources," he added. "The president understands these vital connections, both economically and geopolitically, and also from a military perspective, and what he has done, not only it was constitutional, its given Venezuela a chance at a new beginning, and I think the same thing is going to happen in Cuba."
Trump recently issued a warning to the government of Cuba, suggesting that Venezuela’s close ally strike a deal with the U.S., ramping up pressure following Maduro’s capture.
“Cuba lived, for many years, on large amounts of OIL and MONEY from Venezuela,” President Trump wrote on his Truth Social, acknowledging the significance of Venezuela’s resources on the country. "The Cuban government has stated that U.S sanctions cost the country over $7.5 billion over the course of March 2024 and February 2025."
“It’s going down,” added Trump expressed about the Cuba. “It’s going down for the count.”
Secretary Rubio also recently reiterate that Cuba was run by "senile men" and that the island's economy was in "total collapse."
"One of the biggest problems Venezuelans have is that they have to declare independence from Cuba that tried to basically colonize it from a security standpoint," said Secretary Rubio. "Yeah, look, if I lived in Havana and I was in the government, I'd be concerned at least."
Cuba has since been cut off from Venezuelan crude oil as the U.S. government continues to seize tankers in an attempt to control Venezuela’s oil infrastructure, production, and global sales of the nation’s most abundant resource.
Earlier in the week, Maria Corina Machado joined Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart and Carlos Gimenez to address the current state of Venezuela as a result of Maduro's capture. Machado thanks Trump and the U.S. Congress for their support of her country.
