Representative Randy Fine's (R-FL) No Sharia Act has gained a sponsor in the Senate through Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), who is introducing the bill to the Upper Chamber.

As The Floridian previously covered, Rep. Fine's bill prohibits Sharia law from being used by a U.S. court, public agency, or legal institution when it conflicts with constitutional rights.

Representative Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) cosponsored the legislation with Rep. Fine at the end of September, calling it "a bill that reaffirms our commitment to upholding the U.S. Constitution and protecting American values."

With Sen. Tuberville's introduction of a Senate version, the bill is certainly gaining momentum.

"Sharia Law is fundamentally anti-American and has no place in our country," the Alabama Senator said in a statement. "If you want to peacefully practice your religion, you have every right to do so under the Constitution. But if you want to come to the United States and advocate for the practice of Sharia Law over U.S. law, you should not be here."

"We do not want people who chant ‘death to America' residing in our communities and endangering our families," he further stressed. "We must protect American values, not apologize for them. I applaud my House colleagues for joining me in this effort to preserve our Constitutional and God-given rights."

Similarly, Rep. Fine affirmed that "Sharia law has no place in the United States of America." "We've seen what has happened in the UK and across Europe with the spread of sharia, and it is not an exaggeration to say it is coming here next. Well, we are not going to let that happen," he added.

"This is America," the Florida Congressman continued. " We don't stone women for speaking. We don't hang people in the streets for the world to watch and celebrate. We don't force little girls into marriage or mutilate their genitals in the name of religion. Our nation is built on freedom, equality, and the rule of law, and our Western values are incompatible with sharia."
