During a roundtable discussion on Antifa, Secretary of State Marco Rubio (R) informed President Donald Trump (R) that both Israel and Hamas have “signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan,” as the President later shared on social media. With praise pouring in from conservatives and progressives alike regarding the brokered deal, calls are now being made to repeal the 22nd Amendment to ensure President Trump remains in power as long as possible.

Not one to shy away from sharing bombastic remarks on social media, Rep. Randy Fine (R), who joined the U.S. House of Representatives in April 2025, celebrated the news by commenting that “the Nobel Peace Prize isn’t enough.”

Supporters have dubbed President Trump “The Peace President” after he announced the deal, suggesting that he should be honored with the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in the Middle East.

Rep. Fine doesn’t believe this does justice to the President’s role in the conflict in the Middle East. Instead, he believes the President should be honored by calling on lawmakers to “repeal the 22nd Amendment and thank the Lord for every day @realdonaldtrump can be our President.”

The 22nd Amendment limits the number of times that a person can be elected to the top office in the country to twice.

Before the Amendment was ratified in 1951, the Presidency was not subjected to term-limits, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt (D) is the only President to serve a third and fourth term.

Florida was among the 36 states that ratified the Amendment.

President Trump has floated the idea of running for a third term, even having merchandise brandished with “2028,” which is the year Americans will again head to the polls to vote for the next President of the United States.

However, when officials like Vice President J.D. Vance (R) have been questioned over the idea of President Trump trying to secure a third stint in the White House, they’ve laughed off the claims.

Rep. Fine, whom President Trump endorsed in his Congressional bid, is now the first lawmaker to suggest action to make a third stint possible, and his call is expected to not only further stir tension within the political arena but also create a divide within the GOP as supporters and detractors will clash over the call.

It should be noted that since the ratification of the 22nd Amendment, Presidents like Harry S. Truman (D)Ronald Reagan (R), and Bill Clinton (D) have made similar calls to repeal it.

Earlier this year, Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles (R) introduced a joint resolution proposing a constitutional amendment that allows a president to serve a third term if the first two terms are not consecutive.

President Trump’s announcement this week included “that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon,” with the Trump Administration expecting for their release as early as Monday, October 13th.

President Trump argues that this development is part of “the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.”
