Florida GOP Chairman Evan Power slammed his party counterpart, Florida Democratic Chairwoman Nikki Fried, for refusing to empower women during a news conference in Clay County.
"This is a party that one: she can't define who a woman is, supported the Supreme Court nominee who couldn't define who a woman was. And today, made fun of that fact, and then didn't answer the question," Power said.
Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson similarly struggled to define what a woman was during her confirmation hearing back in 2022.
"Beyond that, this is a party that wants to put men in women's sports, wants to put men in women's restrooms, wants to sexually indoctrinate our kids, and she had the audacity today to say that she thought women should be in more spaces, but she wants to put men in those various spaces who pretend to be men, or men that want to pretend to be women," Power continued.
The chairman added that the Democratic Party was "out of touch," saying that the party was "selling women's empowerment under the guise of a radical left agenda that doesn't resonate with Floridians."
Clay County School Board Commissioner Erin Skipper echoed Power's sentiment at the news conference.
"Women's empowerment is not a catch phrase for me, it's not a hashtag, it's not a trend, it's not even partisan," Skipper said. "For me, it's the heartbeat of every American mother who is raising daughters to be leaders who will one day lead."
Clay County Commissioner Alexandra Compere also shared Skipper's feelings. Along with Compere, two women make up the county commission, with Betsy Condon as Chair and Kristen Burke as Vice-Chair.
"Clay County cares about ability, about trust, about letting women lead and then helping them to excel," Compere added. "No mistake can be made here that it's not just happening in Clay County, but across the state and at the federal level, women are leading with excellence here in Florida."
