Florida Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins ripped California for failing to crack down on illegal immigration, blaming Gov. Gavin Newsom's policies for an undocumented truck driver killing three Floridians in a traffic accident.

"We're done with that shit," Collins said at a press conference in Stockton, California, taking every opportunity to slam Newsom and California. "He fled here. He fled to these failed policies."

Collins referred to Harjinder Singh, an undocumented truck driver from India who killed three Floridians in St. Lucie. Collins claimed that Singh fled to California afterwards because "California has failed to take illegal immigration seriously."

A retired Green Beret, Gov. Ron DeSantis deployed Collins on Wednesday to California to extradite Singh to Florida to "throw the book at him." On Thursday, Collins denied claims that his mission was "performative," calling it a "load of hogwash."

"This is not performative, this is what leadership should be," Collins said. "I hope and pray that California gets their stuff together."

Singh, who illegally entered the United States in 2018, is accused of killing three people when he attempted an illegal U-turn on a St. Lucie highway with his tractor-trailer, blocking four lanes of traffic.

A minivan containing three people was unable to brake in time and hurtled into the trailer, the New York Post reported.

An Indian citizen, Singh received a commercial driver's license in California and Washington. He was arrested in California on Saturday by the US Marshals on three counts of vehicular homicide.

He was nearly deported in 2018 but claimed asylum, fearing for his safety if he returned to India.
