Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) is introducing legislation preventing the World Health Organization (WHO) from accessing Americans' records.
Specifically, Rep. Steube's Health Privacy From Global Bureaucrats Act prohibits the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from sharing taxpayer, medical, and vaccine data with the WHO and foreign governments.
"No foreign government or international organization should have unfettered access to your private medical records and tax returns," said Rep. Steube in his press release, adding, "Americans deserve the peace of mind knowing their personal information is not being passed around the World Health Organization and neighboring states. My bill will make sure bureaucrats at the IRS and HHS respect your right to privacy as a U.S. citizen."
In January, one of President Donald Trump's first actions upon assuming office was withdrawing the United States from the WHO, particularly after the House Oversight Committee found in December that the WHO "caved to political pressure from the Chinese Communist Party" during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result, the Florida Congressman introduced the WHO is Accountable Act, which codifies Trump's withdrawal and lays out several parameters a future President must obey if they wish to reintegrate the U.S. into the WHO.
Specifically, the World Health Organization must prove that they are not beheld by the CCP and was not involved in covering up the origins of COVID-19, has improved transparency and commitment to rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse, depoliticized aid, allows Taiwan observer status, and denies funds to regimes such as Iran and North Korea.
"The WHO is a globalist, CCP-run entity that disproportionally charges the US compared to other countries and pushes their CCP and progressive ideology on the American people and the world," Steube said in January, adding, "Their handling of COVID is just one example. This ends now. I applaud President Trump, who had the courage to do what Congress hasn't, ensuring that American taxpayer dollars are spent on the needs of the U.S., not China.
