Representative Mike Haridopolos (R-FL) discussed his Greenlighting Growth Act, which recently passed the House of Representatives, during a recent appearance on Fox Business's Mornings with Maria, stating, "Consumers win" if it is signed into law.

As we covered in May, Rep. Haridopolos's bill, his first to be introduced, reduces regulations. It updates outdated finance reporting laws, addressing an issue arising from the 2012 JOBS Act, which requires companies seeking to go public and expand via acquisitions to provide far more data to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) than it can feasibly provide.

The Greenlighting Growth Act passed out of the House Financial Services Committee just five days after its introduction, and last week, the bill passed the House of Representatives.

Rep. Haridopolos discussed representing the Florida Space Coast, saying how "a lot of small businesses are just being absolutely hampered and hammered by big regulations, and the small businesses are saying, 'it is really hard for us to make acquisitions. Let alone, of course, try to go public.' This is a commonsense bill that reduces those regulatory burdens and allows those small businesses to compete with the big businesses."

Thus, the Florida Congressman continued, "which means consumers win. There is more competition."

More to the point, he suggested that the Greenlighting Growth Act is more than just a means of economic stimulation, but "it is part of the American message."

"It is not just tax policy, but regulatory [policy] will make America the most attractive place to do business," Haridopolos added, referencing President Donald Trump's recent successes in securing new trade deals with countries including Japan and the European Union.

"It is the reason why President Trump is having so much success overseas," the Florida Congressman concluded, "because people want to reinvest in America after years and years of high regulations, let alone higher taxes. We are moving in the opposite direction."
