The bill to cut $9 billion in federal spending has passed the House again and is now heading to President Donald Trump's desk, and several Florida Republicans are celebrating.
Among the various cuts made by the rescissions package is the decision to defund National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), as well as various foreign investments promoting left-wing social causes.
"The American people are tired of footing the bill for unchecked government agencies, watching their hard-earned money shipped overseas, and funding woke nonsense disguised as policy," said Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL), adding, "This rescissions package is just the beginning, but it's a critical step toward restoring fiscal sanity in Washington and putting American taxpayers back in the driver's seat. I'm proud to stand with President Trump and my Republican colleagues to ensure our federal budget works for the American people—not against them."
Similarly, Representative Aaron Bean (R-FL) said, "With the passage of this rescissions package, we're taking one small step to cut wasteful spending and one giant leap toward fiscal sanity."
"Thanks to the DOGE Caucus, we've eliminated $9 billion in wasteful spending—launching us toward stronger fiscal health and renewed trust in how government handles taxpayer dollars," Rep. Bean added.
Representative John Rutherford (R-FL) emphasized how "Americans' hard-earned money shouldn't be used to bankroll leftist propaganda and organizations that act contrary to U.S. interests at home and abroad. That's why I was proud to vote YES on President Trump's rescissions package today to cut overseas and domestic spending to help get our country back on track."
"Washington has a spending problem, but today I voted to stop the spigot of reckless spending," said Representative Daniel Webster (R-FL), adding, "Together with my Republican colleagues, I voted to send this rescissions package to President Trump to cut billions of dollars in wasteful, unnecessary spending on programs that undermine our values and fail to put America First."
Finally, Representative Scott Franklin (R-FL) described how the rescissions package builds upon the "Big Beautiful Bill" signed into law on Independence Day, saying, "H.R. 4 represents another major step toward restoring fiscal sanity and accountability to the federal government. Together, these bills reflect our unwavering commitment to cutting waste, protecting taxpayers, and putting American priorities first."
"With a $36 trillion national debt, we must act decisively and responsibly," Rep. Franklin further noted. " It didn't happen overnight, and fixing it won't either. This bill is a meaningful step toward restoring common sense to federal spending and rebuilding a government that respects the people who fund it. I was proud to vote for this legislation and look forward to President Trump signing it into law."
